Understanding the valve on your inner tube is important:

  • Presta Bike Valve 

    • Thinner and longer, typically found on road bikes and many mountain bikes along with medium to top end bikes.

    • Requires a smaller hole in the wheel rim, which can be beneficial for rim strength.

    • Narrows at the top with a knurled nut that needs to be unscrewed to inflate/deflate.

    • Often preferred for higher pressures.

    • We stock a comprehensive range of Presta bike valve inner tubes. 

  • Schrader Bike Valve

    • Wider, like a car tyre valve.

    • Common on hybrid bikes, some mountain bikes, and children's bikes, typically found on low end bikes.

    • Can be inflated with standard car or petrol station pumps.

    • More robust.
